MEET DUSTIN

"IN THIS TOGETHER"

Hello, Atascosa County! My name is Dustin Delgado. I was born, raised, have built my career, and established my own family home here in Atascosa. It is because of my love and dedication to this county that we all call home that I have decided to run for Atascosa County Judge. Whether we’ve crossed paths throughout my life here in Atascosa, or I have not yet had the opportunity to meet you and your family, I’d like to tell you all a little more about who I am and why I am the man for this job.
Like many of you, I come from humble beginnings. My sisters and I were raised in Christine, TX by my parents and grandparents. Through their hardworking example, they instilled values of family, community, and integrity in us. These are the values that guide me today and with which, as a single father, I work to instill in my own daughter.

As a student at Jourdanton Independent School District, I excelled academically and worked relentlessly to achieve my goals. Additionally, I participated in a range of clubs and activities, from FFA, where I showed lambs and was a member of the grass judging team, to the band where I was drum major. I also lettered in multiple varsity sports, while maintaining my position of class president throughout high school. My occupational journey began in high school at our local Whataburger, where I was promoted to a management position. Upon graduation, I accepted a Personal Banker position at First Convenience Bank while attending courses at Palo Alto Community College.

I believe that in our hearts we all have a calling, something we are truly meant to do, and for me, it is to serve my community. In service of my calling, I began my 10-year career with Atascosa County in Corrections.

Once again, I was called upon to serve my community when I was elected City Secretary of my hometown. In this role, my work with Congressman Henry Cuellar was instrumental in obtaining grant money for a new City Hall and updating the town’s water system. Involvement and leadership have always been a big part of who I am; my roots in this community run deep and I truly believe I can lead Atascosa County into the future. In my eyes, the two most obvious concerns for Atascosa County are the allocation of taxpayer's dollars and mental health advocacy.

As your County Judge, I will ensure that these, and all other areas of concern are thoroughly reviewed and prioritized fairly, according to our community’s needs. I vow to listen to the voice of all citizens, no matter their political party, age, race, income, gender, sexual orientation, disability, or family name. I will work hand in hand with local agencies towards a future where Atascosa County will remain a safe and productive place to raise our families – a home that we can be proud of. By working together and by honoring the value of all Atascosa County citizens, we can achieve great things. Remember, WE ARE IN THIS TOGETHER.
